Deer, Speech, Copper and Nascar

Well, it's been an interesting weekend. I was heading down to my sister's on Friday night and was almost there when a deer hit my car. Okay, maybe I actually hit it, but I guess it doesn't matter. The deer didn't make it. My car is pretty banged up but I was able to drive it to my sister's House. I think I may still be in shock. Brently was freaking out a little bit, but he actually didn't do too bad. I don't know if it helped or not that he wasn't with me. I also wanted to make sure to say that I was talking or texting when I hit the deer. I was singing VERY loud.

The car is now at the body shop and I have a rental. I'm going to be traveling for work next week, but I don't have to drive which is good because I have 100 mile a day limit. It's about 40 miles round trip to work, so I should be okay.

I spent Saturday judging district speech. I had a lot of really talented kids come my way. State should be great. While I was judging, my terrific in-laws were able to help me out with the rental, etc. I picked up the rental over my lunch break.

After speech, I headed to watch Jakey play basketball. They got first place in the tournament and he was excited to get a trophy. He didn't play a ton, but when he was in there, he did a GREAT job.

My sister and the kids have a new member of their family. Copper the dog joined them a few weeks ago. He's my newest nephew. He is a hyper little dog, but then again, he's just a puppy. I loved him already. I took him for a couple of walks and he laid by me on the couch for most of the time I was there.

My sister and I went out on the town Saturday night. Saw some friends I hadn't seen for a while so that was nice, but we were looking for some more action and found none. It was kind of disappointing, but we made it through okay.

I made it home today. Stopped and grabbed lunch for Brently and I which is a Sunday afternoon tradition. He doesn't eat out very often. Since losing all of his weight, he's pretty picky about what he eats. I gave up French Fries for lent, so I did not get myself any fries.

Now I'm watching the NASCAR race and Brently is downstairs watching hockey. It's a nice relaxing afternoon after a crazy weekend.

I'm not really ready to go to work on Monday, but I'm only in the office for a couple days, so I should be able to make it. It looks like I might play some poker on Saturday night. When I do this, I get to hang out with a couple good friends from high school.

Until the next time....
